It’s important to me as an artist to bring attention to the unrealistic standards of beauty in modern Asian culture and to inspire girls to overcome these negative pressures. Beauty standards have become increasingly judgmental towards women and girls in recent years, brought on by social media. Public humiliation related to this standard can cause extreme depression and even suicide. I think it’s also important to bring awareness to the industries that profit from these beauty standards. Harmful diet pills, waist cinchers, body shaping clothes, and more all stem from women trying to meet unrealistic expectations.
