Hugo Comte

French Fashion Photographer

est. june 1st, 2005

“I think that we have the possibility to teach people how to embrace their freedom and to understand that we are not locked into a condition. That if we want to change every day, we can change every day… It’s just about the mindset.” (Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, 2022)

French artist Hugo Comte is known for his expressive yet uncanny fashion photography with Vogue Italia, Vogue Japan, Re-Edition Magazine, Dazed, and more. While studying architecture during college, Comte adopted photography as a tool to help him analyze space. However, Comte doesn’t restrict himself to only photography, he also does sculpture, film, and more. Bridging off visual codes from the generation of photographers before him such as Steven Meisel, Comte isn’t afraid to reference. Whether it's using harsh lighting, a high field of depth, posing the models behind his camera in a euphoric state, or referencing a visual story, his photographs are a clear homage and inspiration from Meisels career. With a vision for complete freedom of expression and sexuality, Comte brings a combination of bliss, pop culture, youth, and minimalism to the forefront of fashion photography.

Brent Mckeever

American Fashion Photographer

est. 2001

“Find what sets you apart and stop looking at inspiration from different people, instead focus on what is different in your life,” McKeever said. “It doesnt have to be glamorous — look at the nasty and broken parts and just dig deeper.” (Washington Square News, 2019)

Brent Mckeeer is a 24 year old photographer based in Los Angeles. Mckeever has shot people such as Rihanna, Pink Pantheress, Alex Consani, Ice Spice, and more with his genre ranging from portrait to fashion. Growing up in Malibu California, Mckeever wanted to capture the youth around him such as elite modeling star Kaia Gerber, daughter of the supermodel Cindy Crawford, whom he grew up with. Some of his photos were seen as risky and scandalous by the people in Malibu, however he used those elements to strengthen his vision highlighting the removed artifice of celebrity culture. Mckeever found Malibu to be too secluded with a lack of diversity which drew him to move to the east coast attending NYU (New York University). Mckeevers photos are layered with high contrast, bright vibrant colors, and a gritty scanned texture. His editing techniques have completely stylized his photos making them instantly recognizable.

Stolen Besos

American Photographer

est. 1999

“I think beauty is really felt between me and the subject when we’re shooting. I can feel that they feel really good, and I show them the photo, and they’re smiling, and I can tell that they love it. It’s a cool moment between us. So it’s really just something you feel.” (Dazed, 2022)

Maya, otherwise known as Stolen Besos, is a 26 year old photographer whose work is widely known for her liminal, hyper feminine, disassociate qualities. Besos originally began taking photographs because of her negative experiences as a model. Her work includes pastel washed out colors, deteriorating/liminal spaces, solo subjects, and usually a hard flash. When being shot by male photographers, she stated that they only looked to objectify her. She sees her photos as optimistic and full of hope for women reclaiming their autonomy while redefining how femininity can present itself in photography away from the male gaze.

Steven Meisel

American Fashion Photographer

est. june 5, 1954

“Fashion is about change. In order to stay current and excited, I try new and different approaches." (Encyclopedia.com, N/A)

Steven Meisel is a world renowned fashion-photographer for his stunning portraits and rich storytelling in editorials for magazines such as Vogue (America, Italia, British, and more) i-D, W Mag, and more. Steven Meisel is also known for photographing Madonna’s provocative and radical 1992 book, Sex. Starting out with fashion illustration and graduating from Parsons School of Art and Design, Meisel found a love for photography in the late 1980’s after photographing film star Phoebe Cates. Sourced from aperture, the article states “Together with Guy Bourdin, Tim Walker, Nick Knight, and Steven Klein, Meisel developed fashion photography as a complex narrative in conversation with cultural preoccupations.” Meisel is a forward and radical artist sourcing his inspiration from all sectors of culture. Diverting from the glamour and eroticism of the 80’s, Meisel brought a tender yet joyful feel to fashion photography.

Noah Benton

Fashion Photographer

est. june 1st, 2005 | chicago and los angeles

Noah Demus otherwise known as Noah Benton is 19 year old fashion photographer and designer from the South Side of Chicago. Growing up, Benton was heavily into drawing and architecture. In the 6th grade he started taking photos when he received his first phone, a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, he begged his dad for in 6th grade. Fast forward 8 years later, he's moved across the country to study photography and design at the University of Southern California. Through Noah's work, he explores the fluidity of life through patterns, the beauty of disorganization, cluttered minds but empty spaces, all while questioning consciousness and reality. Noah sees disorder as order and photography is his outlet to understanding the world. He is always sinking deeper into the human experience, waiting and waiting for something-anything to happen, capturing it all into one photo, then starving to do it all over again.
